Bill, are you sure those aren't images that you posted? All the thumbnails I see are all the images I've ever posted on this forum. Although, for what it's worth, I did enjoy scolling through them all.

Re: Nice 1870 Twenty Five Cents
No need to explain. If this were mine, I wouldn't be able to show it off fast enough either. And like yourself, if I can be so bold; although I love you long time, I'd have a hard-times hard time hanging on to you. This is why I stick around here---from time to time something turns my head. Thanks f...

Re: Scarce moderns?
Are mintages down in the last five years? That's a good question. I can't speak for all denominations, but iirc where 5 cent pieces are concerned, I've come across only two 2013, and as of yet not a single 2014. I check all my change and occasionally roll search nickels and over the same period I f...

I too have been collecting IH cents and using this site below as a guide:

1936 Bar
I've always wondered... ...and because imo the 1936 25c Dot is one of Canada's least appreciated coins... ...and before the buy them all... Can someone please explain why I'm expected to collect a die crack like it's worth something? Is the 1936 2-bit bar straight across not a plain old die crack?? ...

Re: Grown man cries
Has to be a 1953 NSF near leaf or a 1953 SF far leaf. Not too sure how he can tell, but either way it's a darn shame.

Re: Variety or error?
You could say it's a variety of error. The area is a high spot on the die, obviously a weak one, and has chipped off gradually on a die; otherwise on more than one die. Nevertheless, the bottom three look a bit similar the first not as much. Somewhat common error I would think.

Re: 1859 Penny error
Taking a closer look at your photos I think what you have is a Wide 9/8. Is the alignment (the die axis) of your coin the same as what's shown in this image? http://www.coinsandcanada.com/medias/pieces-de-monnaie/image-error-1-cent-1858-m.jpg or this one?... http://www.coinsandcanada.com/medias/piec...

Re: 1859 Penny error
Hi Jean,
There are others here far more qualified to help you than myself, however you might want to determine what you may or may not have from the helpful photos here on the CAC website.
Tough to grade your coin from the photo... VG+, Fine perhaps...

Re: Difference between AU-50 and MS-60
Suppose I came across a Canada 2000-P nickel with a couple small surface scratches but lots of luster etc. AND , suppose I was a shyster as well , and so listed it as a MS-60 grade coin - and the picture looked the part - I could potentially get $5 or 6 bucks for it vs $2 or 3 if it was AU-50. Supp...

Re: Difference between AU-50 and MS-60
So does uncirculated mean they have to be mint sealed or contained ? Not necessarily. An UNC/MS can be as simple as the teller at a bank cracking open a fresh roll of coins and handing one to the customer (me). Then I take that coin and keep it in my pocket...with other change...for quite some time...
