Substantial Coin and Bank Note Collection For Sale
Hello. I (Richard/Rich) have been a collector of primarily Canadian coins/tokens and banknotes (Chartered Bank, DoC, BoC) since the mid 1970s. Over the next couple years I will be selling a vast majority of my collection. As an example of what is available, the collection comprises a large quantity ...

1917 VF+
1918 VF
1919 F
Unfortunately all harshly cleaned and therefore not much numismatic value.

Re: Looking for grade on 1885 dime
Given is was found in ground that would explain strange coloring and characteristics of a cleaning (albeit natural). Luckily no evidence of corrosion/pitting. Too bad it wasn't a T5 - a rarer variety by a factor of at least 4:1 compared to the T4.

I suppose enough time has gone so I will now tell you all. AU55
As most of you correctly assessed. Should have been no higher than EF40.
All I can say once again is; Fraudulent TPG is a real threat to the hobby. Buyer beware.

Really NGC?
This coin was graded by NGC. Anyone care to guess what grade was assigned?

I've been absent for a while. The subject coin was graded by NGC. All I can say is that this is probably a case of an improper grade being assessed to a coin by virtue of its relative rarity. Although as we all know NGC is just plain fraudulent anyway. The pressure to overgrade a rare coin by TPGs i...

1896 T5 10 Cents Production Flaw
I've see this type of flaw on Victorian dimes now and then - mostly on the reverse side, as in the case pictured below. Seems as though it is a planchet flaw as the strike passes thru the rings. If anyone has some thoughts on what exactly causes this, I'd appreciate your insight. Please see images.

More grading lunacy
m Remark: I chose this coin since it is a key date and as such is ripe for abuse. This coin is not VF. It is a Fine. Even with ZIRP/negative interest rates and the resulting obscene asset price appreciation (except coins) over the last few years, the seller will be waiting quite some time to attain ...

Re: 1936 Canadian 50 cents
Some slight wear on high points and a couple rim dings. Coin has seen some very brief circulation but overall appears to be a very nice example. Agree with Bill, it is definite AU (Would have to have it in hand or have better pics to determine if it is deserving of 55). Cheers, RD
