hi, i have recently seen the same thing on a 1954 $2 note at a local market. the first thing i noticed when i held it was it had a light chemical smell almost like bleach, not the "normal paper smell" when i looked at it with better light, you could see fading around where the numbers should be that...

Thank you castor, Much easier to see now. So my question is about the different color lines going across the coin, i did not know if this was a naturall age thing, or if the coin may have been cleaned at some point. I don't clean my coins, i leave them the way i receive and have only noticed this ty...

Hi, I notice a few of the large cents i come across have lines through them, I would like to know what causes this. Is it a result of cleaning in years past? I am trying to post pictures , please be patient
