Re: Does anyone know anywhere I can get a $50 devil face note?
It will depend on a lot of factors including minimum grade acceptable (which you haven't stated), eye appeal, original (or not), etc. The higher/stricter your requirements could make your pursuit either easy or or more difficult. Since the pandemic, everything has become a bit more dear but a lot of...

Re: 2 dollar bird series prefix
Catalogues only single out prefixes that are more collectible/sought after rather than regular prefixes. Here's the scoop on the AUG to AUN $2.00 according to my 2019 Charlton: The Thiessen-Crow signature combination was intended to begin with $2 note AUK1640000. However, notes with the Thiessen-Cro...

You could also use Numista by hitting the IMAGE icon to the right of the > +Add filters < icon. Numista is a very useful site where you can also catalogue your collection, swap & participate in a fairly active World coin forum. You must register to participate but you can ID coins without registerin...

Re: 2 questions about banknote collecting.
I have a fairly small rural library. It’s possible but I will also check eBay. One of the hardest parts of being a collector is I don’t have a lcs :( The nearest LCS to me is over 1 hour drive from where I live. I went 2 years ago to get some large currency sleeves. If I buy the sleeves by bulk, I ...

Re: 2 questions about banknote collecting.
You might want to consider registering & entering your notes on Numista. Once you've done that & have participated on their forum for a while, you may also wish to swap notes (which the site allows) with fellow members.

Re: 2 questions about banknote collecting.
Here's a thread I started on the Paper Money Forum (it is a US-based banknote forum) on TIPS selling on eBay : https://www.papermoneyforum.com/post/tips-to-sell-on-ebay-or-elsewhere-strategies-etc-12813197?highlight=selling%20ebay&pid=1336730619 Like @HANDI1, I am a bit puzzled why you'd wish to lea...

Re: $2 Devil Face Notes
It's hard to say because you are not framing your question in a specific manner. Do you mean Choice UNC $2.00 compared to Choice UNC $20 from the first or 2nd signature combo? If you are talking about short prefixes (or change-overs), they're a different story (as are replacements). The BV's for the...

Re: Storing Banknotes
I was at a workshop on the storage/proper care of coin/banknote collections at the RCNA a few years ago. What was really surprising was that just about all the participants had experienced some damage to their collections & had stored their collections in their basements (or other problem spots). Wh...

Re: Bank Searching
I used to "recycle" cash at a few of my favourite branches but have really backed off in the last couple of years (mainly due to Covid & also due to the high # of new staff in training). Many of the new staff take forever to change up (or down) small amounts (like $2000 or 100X $20.00). It tends to ...

Re: Storing Banknotes
I would keep the silica pouches with your "raw" (or ungraded) collection. Also, remember to buy decent PVC-free (Mylar) or museum safe currency sleeves for your ungraded notes. There are many cheap plastic currency sleeves out there that are not appropriate for long term storage. Remember to store y...

Re: 1937 one dollar bank notes
That is correct: all 5 prefixes of the Osborne Towers 1937 ONES are narrow panelled but not labelled as such (since there's no variation amongst the 5 prefixes). They're only labelled narrow panelled on the first 2 prefixes of the Gordon Towers ONES. That's b/c the design was still narrow panelled f...

Re: Shinplaster Collection Valuation Part 1 of 2
Nice set. I have a 5 y.o. catalogue so not sure if this will help. The Book Values (BV) are just estimates. 1870 Series A: For Good - $120 VG $250 (I would expect the note to be about $150 Series Large B: Your holder states $175 VF30 -$300 so probably about $200 Series Small B: This has similar BV a...
