Re: 1999 Foreign Planchet

If you are going to weigh coins, you need a scale accurate to two decimal points.
The fact that your silver coin weighs the same as a copper cent verify that it is just a plated cent.
If the plating was missing, it would show as a weak strike.

Re: RARE DISCOVERY 2023 CHARLES III Loonie, error or not?

Die chips and die cracks are not errors, they are part of the minting process
so they would not be recognized if you sent them in for grading.

Glad that it worked out. Make sure that you put them back in new sleeves to protect them.

Not a folded planchet, it is damage.
Something has hit the rim flattening it.

Re: 1971 BC CDN $1

Welcome to the forum. That looks like a partial Struck Through Grease, a minor type of error. As far as the rotation, the Obverse is not lined up properly, turn it slightly to the left and it should line up OK. I guess you are also aware that is a nickel dollar, not the silver one. As far as errors g...

Re: 1964 dot question

Just a pin head size die chip. It will slowly enlarge with more strikes.
Not uncommon on chromium plated dies.

Re: 3rd Sail Dime?

You had me confused there for a minute Bill, I know that there are about 13 varieties of
an “extra sail” on the Toonie but have never seen one on a dime.

Re: 1993 Brass coloured penny

Welcome to the forum.

It does look plated. Have seen them plated in many colours as an aftermarket promotion.
Technically it is considered damage to the coin.

Re: 1945 Canadian half dollar near & far 5.

That is because the last two numbers where hand punched into the die. With each die, the location would be slightly different. You could have a near, medium, far, high, low, depending on where the mint worker punched it. As there would have been approximately the same amount of coins from each strik...

Re: Has anyone ever used PMG paper money grading services

PMG is the banknote section of NGC, one of the top two coin grading companies.
They have a good reputation and are reliable.
They have their own forum if you would like to check it out.

Re: 1943 Canadian half dollar die crack reverse.

Die clashes are fairly common on early 40’s fifty cent coins.
What you have is a nice one extending that far.
