Re: Chinese reilcas are back - 1932
I spoke too soon. 1888, 1890H, 1894, 1921, 1870, 1872H now listed as well as many other rarities of other denominations. Reported seller to eBay however I suspect eBay will be slow to act if at all because of the way the listing is described. Seller admits they are copies and tells buyer to not buy ...

Chinese reilcas are back - 1932
https://www.ebay.com/itm/125457251891?h ... Sw8Ddi2M5m
Just a matter of time before 1890H turns up. Rare fakes of other denominations also listed.
Pathetic losers trying to make a buck.

Second seller listing same fakes.

Likely same seller with a different eBay handle. So disappointing.

Re: Relevance ?
Ok thanks, but the Arms have evolved numerous times since Confederation. I think they should have used Elizabeth II instead of her father. Using George VI instead of George V certainly doesn't make any sense. I think I would have clued in that it was some type of commemorative issue if George V had ...

Re: More evidence of inept TPG - NGC
I was going to as well but decided to wait until other members had a chance to view the listing and perhaps comment.

Re: More evidence of inept TPG - NGC
I have an NGC AU53 1898 50 Cents that I purchased 16 years ago. Its only an EF45, which I suspected it was anyway before I bought it. I removed it from its slab the same day I got it in hand. Its a stupid grade designation anyway. For this particular 1891 the T in GRATIA is re-punched with the 1871 ...

More evidence of inept TPG - NGC
I actually truly wonder who is authenticating/grading these coins. https://www.ebay.com/itm/363830682388?hash=item54b5ffa314:g:0b8AAOSw7ltidopd Are they immigrant hires that get a one week crash course in grading and get paid poorly to maximize profit? Not only is is not an AU53 but look at coin car...

Re: 1892 50 Cents
BTW, I did neglect to consider one thing which is something I have always wondered about flagrantly questionable TPG coins. Could the original coins have been transposed for a lower grade coin? I do not doubt for a second that the holders can be expertly breached. Therefore, for a coin such as this ...

Re: 1892 50 Cents
Bill if you are able to save the obverse image to your desktop (or wherever) and the zoom into the forehead/crown/hair line area you will see there is no overlap. The tarnishing makes it appear there is an overlap unless you magnify. I think we've played around with this one enough. I don't own this...

Re: 1892 50 Cents
Sorry, I proposed a confusing question. I was referring to the grade only, however it is definitely an Obverse 4 as I have an actual Obverse 3 to compare against where the projection of the crown is obvious and the chin is slightly different. As for grade, IMO overall its a F15. I'll await a few mor...

Anyone care to take a shot at this one? Appears to be Obverse 4.

1858 Province of Canada Coins
Fellow collectors, I have a debate topic. Did the publishers of Canadian coin albums make a major error by including the Province of Canada coins in the Dominion of Canada coin collective? Why did they not designate the 1858 coins (and 1859 for the cents) as a Province of Canada issue? Sure it would...
