Re: 1948 10 cent retained broken die
The close-up is pretty shakey but you can just see that the die breaks two ways and rejoins again at the C ... a three piece die. How would you grade this coin? Circulated, but I think it looks more worn on the reverse than it is because it being a weak strike or old die. The dirt in a few denticals...

Re: 1953 #3
Correction to my last: die erosion from 8 to 12 o'clock, no die clash below 1 (lumpy surface but it doesn't exactly correspond to the obverse), small die chip(s) above C in CANADA.

1953 #3
Finally, a coin produced from a die near the end of its life cycle. Die clash, chips, dots, cracks and all-round surface damage probably caused by fatigue failure. Maybe one of the experts here can explain this manifestation of radiating lines toward the rim. Cheers reverse: die clash above date and...

A deeper-pressed example of the previous error. Photos show same coin lit from different angles.

1953 1 cent errors
After finding so many 1951 and 1952 pennies with errors, I would have been suprised not to find at least one '53 with a flaw. First, a typical chin-and-neck/nape-of-neck die clash marked coin reverse: die clash above date and under leaf http://www.coinsandcanada.com/forum/class/test/1953_cent_001_re...

Small, but extra metal nevertheless.

1955 1 cent die clash
Evidently I still have pennies to sort through. Impression of Queen's chin and neck on the left, the nape of her neck on the right. Minor die shift at the top of the inside loop of both 5's didn't photograph. Cheers reverse: die clash above date and under large leaf http://www.coinsandcanada.com/for...

I'm not sure what you mean, but if you're talking about the effigy of ERII then yes, they're all the same.

Re: 1867-1967 confederation
What you have is a Centennial medallion handed out during June 1967 to all school children in Canada from grade 1 through 13. That would be somewhat over 4 million at the time. It had absolutely no face value. These bronze medallions were all sealed in cellophane with a centennial motif creating the...

Re: Looking for ID of this old coin please
Nice coin. Silver I assume. Just a guess, but I think this is an Ottoman Empire (circa 1300-1922) coin which you can compare with the examples below. Notice the beads around the rim...this is apparently typical of the style of their coins. Somewhere on your coin is the denomination on one side and a...

Re: 5 x 1 cent (1 x 1972 and 4 x 1973) in a plastic block
Probably a unique item. These lucite (acrylic) blocks with coins became popular during the advent of "spaceage plastic" technology which dates to about the date of the coins. I remember seeing them sold all over the place as desk toys (paperweights). IIRC some came as pen holders. You can...

1978 1 cent - double 78/hanging 8
Found this one sorting pennies. Odd coin with overlapping errors. Die shift on 78 with clashed chin and neck running from leaf through the stem to the 8 and out the bottom of it on the reverse; die clash of both sides of the stem running chin to neck on obverse. No arrow pointing to the clash under ...

1941 & 1949
Thank you Lightw4re. I spoke too soon though. Add another die-clashed 1951 obverse to the pile plus these two. The first; another full lobe clash mark under the ear on yet a different year (1949), and a die-clashed reverse from a 1941 which includes the back and top of the head traced from the leaf,...
