Re: 1983-D US Penny?
Wow! That thing is worse than a Rorschach test, where you have ink blots and you are supposed to guess what it looks like. This is a regular US penny that someone either took tools to or was caught in some kind of machinery. It's post-mint damage to the nth degree.

Re: 1943 Tombac with interesting features
I was going to comment on it when it was posted, but I decided not. I don't think that it was a die crack. It's at the very bottom of the deepest recess of the die. I think it was from when the die was made.

Re: 1943 Tombac with interesting features
I think that only the crack from the "V" is a die crack .. the other not. D/C's start where there is an extreme stress concentration pt. The sharp edges of the ends of the serifs on the letters "N's, T's, I's, V's) etc are stress concentration points because of the radical change of direction of the...

Re: 1943 Tombac with interesting features
The dies were made from steel. Wartime steel had some very stiff alloys used ... some of it "ballistic steel" used in tanks and other vehicles. I used to have to repair ships made during the war and ballistic steel on the decks and superstructure would crack easily, once started. It would take any t...

Re: The P on obverse of 25 cent coins.
The "P" stands for "plated", meaning that the coin is plated, rather than homogeneous metal. It began in 1999.

Re: half penny 1852. missing 1
Is the missing digit due to wear? Is the remainder of the coin very easy to read? Is there damage where the missing digit is? If everything else on the coin is no problem, it's probably due to plugged or filled die and MIGHT be worth a very small increase in value.

What do you think the anomaly or problem/difference is? It looks normal to me from the photos, except for the black spots.

Re: 1956 Canadian cent
It's not very often that a strike-thru will go into/thru the design. That would require something soft or flexible enough the go down into the die's design recess and be hard/stiff enough to cause the metal to not flow during the strike. It looks to me like a scratch from the machinery after the die...

Re: 1956 Canadian cent
Left leaf is a scratch or strike thru, depending on if it's recessed or sharply raised edges.

I don't understand. It looks normal with a light shown thru the back to see anti-counterfeit design.

Just remember that the prices in gold are WHAT THEY SOLD FOR, not asking prices. Be sure to tote in the shipping costs for total price. Did yours cost about $50 to grade?

Re: 1876 Canadian one cent with no "H"
The Obverse is a regular Obv 1, not a 1a which the specimen had. This picture looks even more like there was something there where the H should be. Someone may have done it eons ago.
