Re: Covid & border security

Well, I got to the VA in Buffalo a week and a half ago. I live in Canada, but a US citizen. No problem getting into the US, but coming back from the US into Canada had some extra steps. Since I was going for medical purposes, I needed a letter/not from my doctor here that said that I needed to go to...

At any bank in Canada, but you probably have to go to a Federal Reserve bank in the US to get the US equivalent.

Re: Strange 1882 one cent piece.

The term "delamination" refers to the planchet that was the metal disc that was struck and made into the coin. There were impurities in the bronze alloy which caused the planchet (coin) to partially peel. The coin planchets are cut/punched from large sheets. Somewhere in the sheet were impurities or...

Yes, it's a fat 4 and VF-30. Nice coin and worth the effort.

I don't see any double chin. What you have is an Obv 2 for 1882 and that Obv has what looks like a double chin but it's normal. You have some delamination on the Reverse and some post-mint dings on the Obverse. Your coin has led a full tough life.

Re: Silver dollars wrapped in tinfoil - Should I open them?

The dollars are silver and current price is $18.85 times face. Each roll is 20 coins so just the scrap value of the uncirc dollars is $377 Canadian per roll. But most dealers or buyers are looking at only giving 90-95% of scrap value. There are lots of collectors that collect uncirc rolls so you may...

It's a fake. Look at the bear toes and then do an archive search on here that tells all about them.

Re: 1 cent 1859 coin

It musta been buried in a salt dump or where someone dumped his swimming pool chemicals or home water softener system. I remember I had to dump salt down in Oklahoma almost 40 years ago. It's hard to tell that's even a coin, let alone one you can read the date on.

Re: Bullion Catalogue???

Most people refer to the annual Charlton Coin guide when it's mentioned. However, that is Vol1 for the year. Vol 2 covers all the noncirculating coinage. Most bookstores will carry it, but Charlton and Ebay have many

Re: 1918 NFLD Half - need assistance grading

Just lookin at the crown band and the vertical jewels, I'd say VF-20. Some may say VF-30 but no more than that. Full retail to a newbie would be $20 Cdn or less. Most posted vales are listed at what a person HOPES to get, not what someone would actually pay which may be $10 or so.

Re: 2006 pink ribbon! effigy on the left!

The coin on the left has to be rotated so that Canada is exactly on the bottom. That's the way that the coin is actually struck. The painting application is put on with no N-S orientation. It's just affixed to the coin where ever that may be. Once you do that, see how far off the strike is.

Re: !987 US 1 Cent DDR ? and grading guesstimate?

I don't see any DDR from the photos. There may be a little die deterioration doubling or MD, but not DDR. The phots don't have enough magnification to see correctly. This is a Dn site, but most here are familiar with Yank coins.

You need to use the EBay "selling" price, not what some people are asking. Here's the last roll sold at $18.50 US:
