Hi. I am new to these forums and don't usually collect Canadian coins. These coins belonged to my dad who died 15 years ago (yeah, I've been kind of busy). Anyway, I have an 1898 High H One cent Victoria penny but I can't find any info on it. Can anyone help a Yank out?
I also have found a 1946 50 cent piece in almost uncirculated condition. Any suggestions as to where to send these coins for grading if they are worth anything?
Thanks for your assistance.

Re: 1898 High H One Cent
The H mintmarks on the 1898's are all over the place, since they were handpunched into the working dies.... some well off the leaf lobe, some centered, some just barely touching, etc. The placement of the H has no correlation as to the scarcity. Some of the 98's have slightly repunched 9's or 8's and they are a little harder to find, but the mintmarks make very little, if any, difference.

Thank you so much for the information on the coin.

The 1946 could worth it if it's the 'Design' variety.
