What do you look for?

The digits in the date .. it was mechanical doubling and 1, 2, or 3 or all digits will be involved, starting right to left. You can get most avg circulated, uncorroded, unbent George LC's for $1 or less if you live up here in Canada by looking around. Avg circulated small cents are less. Your $5 bid is OK, but don't go more than $10 .. by looking, you can find better lots.

I would agree with Bill on this $5 .. with the $3 shipping may be the max I would go on these... with a little digging you can find some really nice large cents for less than $1 a piece...


As for the double punched C... I couldn't really see with my computer and the pic that was provided.. but if there's doubling around the "C" mint mark -as if the C has been struck twice- that's a double punch... it's an interesting variant that I still don't have.. and I believe would command a premium..

The rest of the large cents are so loaded with verdigris.. but at your price point.. I would be tempted to give them an acetone bath.. as well as do a bit of research and science experiment on how to remove the stuff...

The Newf 1941 D/D is with the date with 1, 2, 3 or 4 digits doubled. I don't know about the "C" .. hadn't heard of it. It has been discussed alot on the Canadiancoppercoins site (among others). You can also find the 40's and 42's doubled somewhat, but the '41 has well offset mechanical doubling, but some just with the 1's and 9. here is a link to one of the CCC threads that discussed it and some photos:

Yes.. the double dates I've heard of...

It's the doubling of the "C" that I would be most interested in...

I have a couple newfie pennies with doubling in the dates... but have only seen one at the last RCNA show where there was doubling on the "C" alone... hence why I brought that up...
