Purchased a copy which I received in today's mail. Contains illustrations of tokens of Canada from 1670 to present(1936) by Bert Koper.
On the back is stamped JB Collectionne Les Mannaies Octave Pelletier.
Does anyone know of Octave Pelletier?

Hi Zonad:

I too just purchased a copy (on June 27, 2016 from a local self-described "peddler" in my home-town of Winnipeg) of this catalogue by Winnipeg-based Canadian numismatist Bastiaan Henry Martin ("Bert") Koper (1899-1963), founder of the Park Coin Shop at 377 Henderson Highway (circa 1935-1960), the Canadian Numismatic Art Society (1937-1941), the Canadian Coin Collecting Society (1947-1951), publisher of the variously titled periodical Canadian Numismatic Coin Topics (1938), Money Talks (1939-41) and Canadian Money Talks (1948-51), an auction catalogue from 1938, numerous price lists and at least a couple of booklets on varieties of the "blackout" (tombac) nickel of 1942 (published by the Park Coin Shop in 1946) and the Province of Canada's pennies of 1858 and 1859 (published by the Park Coin Shop in 1944). I am extremely excited with my recent acquisition of The Park Coin Catalogue as it is a rare artifact of Canadian numismatic history. Incidentally, James E. Charlton (1911-2013), quintessential "coin man to Canadians" acknowledged Koper's illustrations from The Park Coin Catalogue (of which there are over 1000) in the first editions of his coin catalogue that he began publishing in 1952.

In response to your question, it sounds like your copy was probably once owned by Octave Pelletier (1889-1956). He was a prominent numismatist from Quebec whose obituary was recorded by Fred Bowman in the Canadian Numismatic Journal of April 1957 (vol. 2, no. 4, p. 71).

Should you be willing to part with your copy or if you happen to have anything else relating to Bert Koper, please let me know. FYI, my wife and I will be entering an exhibit on Bert Koper at the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association Convention in Ottawa later this month. It is entitled "Re-examining Bert Koper, Canadian Numismatic Pioneer: Pedigree, Provenance & Progeny" and it will include my copy of The Park Coin Catalogue. Should you happen to be in the vicinity of the Delta Ottawa City Centre during the week of July 19-24 (exhibits will be open to the public July 22-24): http://www.rcna.ca/2016/ I would be delighted to meet you and show you our exhibit.

Randy (Zonad) is a long-time well-known collector of top grade Canadian decimals and errors/varieties. He comes to a great many of the RCNA conventions, but don't know about this year.

Hi Shylo:

We are already known to each other through the Manitoba Coin Club; yes it would be good to chat further about all things numismatic and I look forward to doing so with you in the fullness of time.

Numismatically yours,
HRE
