1964 Kennedy half dollar.
Hello, I have recently been driving myself absolutely crazy! I collect an eclectic range of coins, mainly through estate sales and auctions etc. I own several Kennedy Half-Dollars from 0-proof like pretty much everybody else but I came across a 1964-D Kennedy that made me pause and think " There is something wrong here". I purchased the coin for $11 and for the last month I have been spending one hour every other night studying it. I know about the teardrop on the 4 and the polishing marks etc. and the satin finish and coloring and have match the coin to several 1964 Kennedy Special Stikes but can't believe it. Any advice other than getting it certified and graded would be appreciated.

My advice would be to post a photo of the Obverse and Reverse
then point out your area of concern.
Not quite sure what your referring to.

Thanks for the pics but you haven't specified
what is supposed to be driving you crazy.
At a quick glance the Kennedy looks normal.

Hello, thank you for your response. I am wondering about the polishing lines throughout, especially from F to A and the salmon orange toning along the rim. The coin also has a satin finish instead of mirror like. There are also grey flecks. 1964 SMS?
Re: 1964 Kennedy half dollar.
I think I may have figured out what is driving you crazy.
Your wondering if that is a 1964 Kennedy SMS.
The answer is no. It is a circulation strike.
There were less than 50 SMS coins minted and none
of them had a Denver mintmark such as yours has.
I'm certainly no expert on Kennedy's but I am pretty
sure of that.
