I'm a Zimbabwean billionare, 80 times over, haha!! A friend gave me these a few years back after a trip he took to Zimbabwe. They are just a novelty now but thought it was pertinent to post since we saw 8.1% inflation in Canada in June.

Zimbabwe was in a state of misery. It was facing one of the worst economic meltdowns ever faced by any country in history. The inflation-wrecked country needed a way out, and the Government decided to issue banknotes with the highest denomination. Soon after the central bank issued these notes, there was a state of hyperinflation and the officials had to leave behind their creation.

You're not the only one who goes for these hyperinflation notes. The 100 Trillion note seems very popular too. Not sure why as the lower denominations (the $1 to $10) appear to have much nicer (more colourful) designs. Before Mugabe sunk the nation into uncontrollable debt, the Zimbabwean economy hadn't yet imploded on itself so they could afford to produce decent notes. Once they started printing $1,000,000 (& higher) denominations the notes just featured rocks & 2 tone colour. Sad how one insane dictator can destroy an otherwise thriving (healthy) economy.
