As I've said many times before on here, there is no high or low or whatever for the 1898's. The mintmark was handpunched in and wherever the guy with the hammer struck it, that's where it is. There are exteremly highs, very highs, kinda highs, lows, pretty lows, very lows, very very lows, etc, etc. Then there are the rights and lefts in all kinds if increments, plus those rotated a little CW or CCW. As many working dies that there were used, that's the number of placements ... at 40-50,000 avg die life, then there are 20-25 spots. It's still a nice coin and a keeper.

I'm not dashing any hopes ... every placement of the H has the same value, regardless. Do not believe books that say that any position of the H is worth any more than any other. I've already had this website correct their data. Believe me when I say that this isn't coming from the seat of my pants .. I know what I'm talking about. If you want to call it a high H, go right ahead .. it is 'high' when used as an adjective because it's not centered, but it's not a 'high H' used as a 2-word noun to describe a variety.
