Canada 1913 Large Cent - Error ??

Post by coindabbler » Sat Feb 24, 2018 4:24 pm

Advice please.
.
I got this 1913 Canadian cent a few years back and have always wondered if this coin would be classified as an error or just a run of the mill common coin.
To me, the coin looks like is has a double 'C' ln Canada and something / blemish on the date.

Could you also give me an educated guess as to value, I have 5 daughters that would like to have my coins (nothing worth humongous bucks), but a dollar here, a dollar there can soon add up.

Without seeing it in-hand, it looks like glue or some substance got on the coin, maybe even molten metal. It does not look like an error; just post-mint damage.

Looks like possibly glue or something similar on the coin.
You can see the outline of the letter and number underneath.
Try an Acetone bath to see if you can remove it.
Not an error though, some sort of PMD.
If you can clean it up, the coin might be worth a dollar or so.
As you say, every dollar counts.
