Hi there,
I have this 1861 Nova Scotia one cent. It has a lot of doubling in the lettering on the obverse I’m not sure if its repunched or doubling. My camera is not good enough to get most of the doubling but I got a couple.
I’m more interested in the erosion and am curious what it could be. It goes all the way through in places but is far more noticeable on the obverse.
There is also a die crack on the reverse and something that looks like a crack on the queens face. There are other cracks as well that are smaller that my camera also cannot pick up.
Lastly, the date looks like it has extra metal and looks a bit banged up. Unfortunately, there is a bit of buildup inside the date covering any possible anomalies.
I am looking forward to your input,
Thanks,
Craig

Re: 1861 Nova Scotia one cent with dbling and erosion.
Looks like lamination on obverse
Re: 1861 Nova Scotia one cent with dbling and erosion.
Yes, thank you. After looking that up, it does look similar. It seems lamination has a large variety of of looks and helps explain this other coin. (In picture bellow)
Just a couple follow up questions, Would this effect the grade? What grade would you say this coin is (the original)? and how would this error effect it’s value?
Thanks
Craig
