1951 1 cent silver metal

Happy easter everyone I have a 1951 canadian 1 cent and its silver in colour. can anyone help me with this and is it worth anything? It is also slightly magnetic.

I'd say nickel-plated ... Ni is magnetic, but not like steel or iron. Maybe a high school experiment in shop.

As Bill stated, it has been plated. You can see where the plating is wearing off.
Value one cent as it is considered damaged.

Possibly dipped in mercury

Dipping in mercury will not do the trick.
The mercury just slides off.
Did this many times at school in the 50's.
You put a drop of mercury on the face of the coin and rub it in using a fair amount of pressure.
Then after school you'd go to the dentist for an amalgam filling.
Surprisingly most of my class is still alive and well.
