1892 Canada Large Cents

I have enclosed five Canada large cents I need help with. What obverse are they some have full N's in Regina some with closed C's in Canada. are any some kind of variety? Any help would be appreciated.

1, 3,4, 5 are all Obv 3. Obv 3 coins have a long cross on the E's inside. #2 is an Obv 2 with missing left serif on the N in Regina, which is normal, as is the broken upper serif on the D in Canada. I don't know what you are referring to as far as a "closed C" in Canada. For 1892, you also had some Obv 4's, which had a smooth rounded chin like an Obv 1. I can't tell with the first photo if it's a smooth chin or not.

Bill I think the first coin is a c4. The others are correctly identified

Sammeli.... The 1st coin photo isn't clear enough to tell about the smooth, rounded chin/throat like an Obv 1. The chin looks flat and the photo not clear enough to see if there is a wrinkle/gap there. Anyway, it's not a variety of any kind.

In Charlton standard catalogue volume one 2021. It shows a Closed "C" in Canada only on a obverse 3A so can I assume that all closed "C" are Obverse variety 3A?

Well, I go by the photos and verbiage in Rob Turner's "Dies and Diadems" where it covers the Obverses from 1890 to 94, so technically I may be wrong with Charlton. The switch to a slightly different Queen image (hair, brow, crown) affected the 1892's, so you had Obv 2, 3 or 4. I have always used, and most collectors I know are the same, that an 1892 with small crosses on the E's to be Obv 2 or 4, and the large crosses to be 3. I'd never heard of an Obv 3A. I don't use Charlton for Obv types here, because the E's are where I look first. If you want to call it a 3a, then go ahead, but you won't find it anywhere in Trends or Ebay or auctions as a 3a. If it is a short crossed E, then it's a doubled-chin Obv 2, and those with a long E cross a 3, but with a rounded chin/thoat on the 4, also with the short cross.

For your specific coin, he has a separate one just on the '92 and '94 dies. I loaned him many of those dated coins for his research. He is a good friend of mine.
