2006 - 5 cent Error/Variety and Photos
2006 - 5 cent Error/Variety and Photos
Has anyone else come across a 2006 - 5 cent (no mint mark or P) coin error/variety similar to what I discovered?
My thoughts on this error is that a possible foreign object attached to the die’s obverse side, creating an imprint on the Queens hair, giving it a look of a jeweled hair broach or pin. I call "JEWEL IN QUEENS HAIR" as upon opening a couple of mint rolls, I have accumulated a number of these coins with the same identical markings. In addition to the error noted above, some of the coins also have a cud in the 6 of the date on the reverse side.
I have these coins listed on E-Bay and have sold one for $9.95 US to a collector in England. Your thoughts??

I have tried to upload and attach the pictures and they seem stuck in the upload folder. Any suggestions. I'll try again as well.

Pictures have been added to initial post.
Re: 2006 - 5 cent Error/Variety and Photos
There were 2 different 5 cents issued in 2006. One with the P ,the other with the Logo.none like the one you show that I know of.
Re: 2006 - 5 cent Error/Variety and Photos
In 2006 the Mint also produced 43,008,000 5 cent cupro/nickel 5 cent coins with the uncround portrait. This info is listed on page 96 of the 2010 Charlton catalogue, of which I have a copy of. my photo is of one of these coins. No logo or P.
Re: 2006 - 5 cent Error/Variety and Photos
This is just a plain coin as there where 3 different varities in that year and they where the P, Mint logo and No logo. The P and the Mint logo are magnetic where as the no logo are not.
Re: 2006 - 5 cent Error/Variety and Photos
You are missing my point. Please look at the Queens portait and you will see the obstruction attached to her hair. I have at least 80 of these coins with the same marking and around 40 that do not.
Re: 2006 - 5 cent Error/Variety and Photos
If you have 80 and 40 without then this means that there are more of the error then the normal coin so, in my opinion, this coin has no additional value.
Re: 2006 - 5 cent Error/Variety and Photos
In that case then of the 3 rolls I purchased, having 2 of them with this error would make approx 720,000 rolls(approx) still out there with this error. Does anyone else have this error coin or did i just get lucky?
Re: 2006 - 5 cent Error/Variety and Photos
As I noted I sold one of these coins on E-Bay and my customer in England just received his coin and part of his comment was "excellent coin, arrived yesterday". I just want to make other collectors aware of this error 5 cent. Thank you.
