Picked this up today. 1881-H Obverse #2. Noted some incomplete letters; but cannot determine what is going on with the I in Gratia.

Another beautiful coin ace. And considering the nice grade you found it in, I don't even want to think how little you paid for it...

It looks as though GRATIA is doubled towards the rhs of the letters then doubled in the same relative direction in REGINA. I think this is hub doubling

The doubled (tripled?) I is the most interesting detail of this 10 cent piece. Maybe someone can enlighten us.

Cheers

Thank you. And I have scratched my head over that I for many hours. Even a good friend and fellow collector is perplexed by it.

NGC will be 'enlightening us' with their opinion in a few short weeks. Everything is packed up and ready to be insured and shipped tomorrow. I know some folks on here are adverse to grading companies, but I feel in order to 'see' what a value may be, in this day and age, it's almost essential. Not to mention my faith in their graders to utilize their far superior technology than my Smartphone and 45x loupe. Ha-ha

Suffice it to say... no, you don't want to know what I paid for it.

This past week has been immensely exciting. Almost surreal. And you probably don't want to know the offers I have gotten for my 1874 also. The second to last one took all of my power to respond, "Sorry, it's currently not for sale." A LOT of will-power.

Beautiful Dime! It's funny, the 1881H Dime, was my first Canadian coin I bought! Hoping it was the BIG variety. It wasn't. That's ok, I still love the coin. 8) Your's is a better buy, more beautiful, than mine. I only paid $5. Can't go wrong with that price for an old beauty!
