Good day, I'm not very versed in this hobby but I'm looking for help describing the error and determing value on this coin. 1892 10 cent coin with mint error.

What is it that you see that makes you think this happened at the mint?

To me it looks like a huge hunk of silver solder and this coin used to be jewelry piece of sort.

I agree with Shylo. (probably solder)
It is only an error if it happened during the striking of the coin.
As this could not possibly have happened at that time, then it is PMD
with no extra value.

It's part of some type of mounting for jewelry or tietack or something similar.

The dime is only one piece with nothing added on. Scratches or dents seem to go up the blob. It was with my husbands Newfoundland coins and others from around the world. I always recalled stories to "keep it safe" and he kept it with our valuables. He's passed on and I'm organizing his affairs. Could there have been an open area on the die that filled in with planchet metal?
