1950 silver dollar
1950 silver dollar
Hi all,..new to forum,..I have a 1950 dollar coin,,The coin appears different on the reverse. The canoe has a larger islet at front,.The canoe has different markings on side and also the 2 bundles marked HB and JR,. The front of canoe appears to0be going down rapids and not water lines,.The front paddler is wearing a different outfit,.The back paddler face is clear like potrait..Many markings which are listed here on error coins,.I heard of a story at a coin clube that there were two reverse types but one type only seen a few release . Any opinions , Thanx,. Traps7

It looks normal to me, but the Native American in the front has dings and the canoe appears gouged. The "HB" is for Hudson Bay Co.

Welcome to the forum.
It would help if you showed a complete photo of both sides of the dollar. This should be automatic with any posting. You talk about the voyageur but only show a portion of him.
Actually there are three styles of the Reverse. From what I can see, you have the Short Water Line variety.
Yours appears to have been flattened on the surface, this may be why it looks different, I do not see any errors. As I said, a complete photo of both sides might help with further diagnosis.

Re: 1950 silver dollar
Your coin has been polished, the reflection is probably why it may look different.
It is now a details dollar.

SWL variety
The polishing as noted by coinguy has reduced its value to buliion.
Never ever polish coins.
