1948 Silver Dollar

Post by Coin-Flipper » Sat Mar 03, 2018 6:53 pm

Hi guys,

I had meant to post here regarding the 1948 silver dollar. Which grading company would anyone recommend would be ideal to use? If anyone has an opinion for a grade based on the photos shown please let me know as what you think it could be.

Thanks a lot for your time.

If you plan on selling in Canada, use ICCS. Use PCGS if going to the US. The 1948's have been heavily faked, so make sure that you send it to a TPG that is reliable. I see a little wear in the hair, but you have to see a coin in-hand to grade something above 50. Your coin looks legit, but you have to see it up close ... they are getting very good at fakes.

Hi Bill,

Thank you very much for your input on both of my posts. I figured that I may take them both at ICCS in Toronto.

I don't think that the '46 is worth being graded .. the cost would be a large % of what it would evel sell for.

True, makes sense to only bring the 1948 silver dollar instead! Thanks Bill, wish you had a great weekend!
