I have looked at the prices for the UNC $1 Centennial banknotes, but cant figure out how to determine the grading as there are several for UNC, i.e. UNC 60-67. Thanks for enlightening me.

Was , what your asking for is not a simple thing. The difference between a grade of 62 or a 64 is not easy to spot by a untrained eye. You would be best to get to a coin show in your area or see if there is a coin club close to you that you could contact and have them help you.

OK thank you, live in a small town and no shops or collectors here that I know of, so will have to make a trip. Mine are so perfect under a mag glass but you accurately point out the “untrained eye” component.

It is important to remember that certifiers inspect your note on a light box, under magnifiation & search for the tiniest evidence of slightest signs of handling (counter flicks, impressions, production flaws). Corners & the edge of each 4 sides must be razor sharp for higher UNC grades. Also, in the US, they're especially critical of a perfectly centred note plus registration (how the front design lines up with the back).

It's a bit on the long side but might be worth watching. Essentially, I recommend you just spend some time with notes with various degrees of circulation (or UNC, both graded & ungraded) to assess yourself (practice is essential):

Thank you, I am looking forward to checking your links. When I check them with a 10x loupe, they are pretty crisp but you can see very slight fuzz on a couple not visible to just the eye. Need to check your links to understand it. Thanks again.
