2005 P Non Magnetic Penny

Post by Miss Maldita » Tue Jan 28, 2020 11:47 pm

Hi everyone. I’m a newbie. Only a few months into this coin collecting. My mother gave me her huge piggy bank and there are tons of pennies, dimes, nickels, and quarters. I’m still trying to sort them out.

Anyway, so a friend was helping me the other day abd said “hey, you need to ask a coin forum about this coin”

And now here I am.. How much is this coin? I was told that it was rare. But... There isn’t that much info about this one.

Please and thank you in advance!

Thank you for replying.

Yes I’ve checked that before I posted here.

“1 cent 2005 - P - Non magnetic : n/a“

Circulated and Uncirculated had no further information.

Is this the first known circulated of its kind?

Your coin has some damage/wear/cleaning issues. You HAVE TO make sure that the coin is, in fact, non-magnetic and you can't check it with a cheap weak magnet. Then you take some good pictures and only then can you try to find a buyer. There have been many of these found and the prices have dropped with each new discovery. You should check around to see what prices are .. AFTER you check to make sure what you have. And you can't sell it to a book or paper that lists prices. You will never get what is written in black and white. Check a few other coin sites where this coin has been discussed.

people break PL set. even if it's genuine and you find it in circulation, doesn't mean it was released for that purpose. the color of your coin is weird/washed/bleached.

Thank you for your reply/insight.

About the colour, I have no idea. I found it like this.

I wish I could send a picture of each coin I have from the huge piggy bank, but I’m afraid they would report me for spamming the forum. And I only have my phone to take pictures with. I have very limited resources.

I have coins from 1909 too. I’m having trouble sorting out these coins because there are just waaaay too many and no place to properly store them. Canada Post doesn’t sell coin envelopes/binder/books/supplies, not the one near my house at least.

Thank you for replying. I appreciate it! Cheers! :D

Weak magnet - I tested it with an industrial magnet at work. I don’t know if it’s weak or not, but it’s one they use for security tags.

Price- It’s a penny, if I manage to sell it for $5.00, I’d still be happy, because that would be x500 of it’s face value. But the ultimate win for me here is I am able to tell my children that I will leave them with something very rare.

Thank you for your insight/reply. I appreciate it. Cheers! :D
