What Town/ City are you from?
Re: Silver Dollars 1949 - 1966 for Sale
Best to sell local as it sounds like basically melt stuff. If not selling local there is more cost/risk due to shipping. Unless of course no one locally is offering decent prices. Let us know your general area and I'm sure we can find you people who are interested.

Hi. Thank you for your replies. I am in Victoria BC but travel to Vancouver often. Yes I would appreciate some names in my area to contact.
Re: Silver Dollars 1949 - 1966 for Sale
So it appears that I should probably be selling my silver dollars locally. Can I ask how the melt value is calculated? Is it based on the spot value of silver? How much is there in one CDN silver dollar? I want to know what I should expect. I don't want to ship outside of Lower mainland, prefer to deal locally, so any references would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Silver Dollars 1949 - 1966 for Sale
The world price for silver is $22.60 US per troy ounce. Each face dollar (whether dollars or halves or quarters, etc) contains .6 troy oz and each coin is minted in .800 alloy purity. You take the 22.60 X 1.25 (the current US/CD exchange rate) and then multiply by the .6 oz. 22.60 X 1.25 X 0.6 = $16.95 Cdn. for "full" scrap silver price. Most dealers will give you 90-95% of scrap, depending upon the amount of wear on the coins. A well-worn or even partially worn coin contains less metal than a newly minted one. 16.95 X .9 = $15.25 Canadian. If you get $16 Canadian from whoever you sell it to, you'll be doing OK.

No need for a calculator.
Most dealers publish their up to the minute pricing
Here's one, just scroll down to Canada common silver $1
https://jandmcoins.com/priority_prices_pmf
Still comes to $16CDN, but a lot easier.
