Since the demise of the Canadian Penny, I thought that I had better start going thru my hoard. Came across this guy today, is it a cud? If picture quality not there let me know and I will try and capture a better image.
Re-photographed coin, hope image is more clearer now. With this new image I'm seeing something at the top of the 4.

Yep, looks like a cud to me .. or maybe just a large chip/chunk out of the die. There's not a whole lot of diference in the two anyway, except that a cud shows the near demise of the die itself.

Shylo .. I sent you a response to your PM a few days ago .. in response to this thread. Did you get it?

Very nice die chip in a wonderfully conspicuous location. The incuse along the inside of the small leaf stem looks battered to me too-- although the photo is fuzzy. I'm guessing so because this would be a prime die clash area. The war years are always interesting in their use of dies till the bitter end. Thanks for posting.

I have a 1943 like that.

I think it was your penny that made me look at mine a little closer. Going to play with the camera and scanner today, see if I get a clearer picture. I can then also add the picture to my db.
