Can't find another like it! Any insight appreciated!
My grandfather left his coins to me when he passed and this, amongst other things, is what I found. I will be posting more when I get the opportunity. I've reviewed the coin under a microscope and there is no way the Image was filed, ground, sanded, etc.... . The letters in Canada and the date are untouched, another reason to believe the coin is unaltered. The coin thickness is also consistent with zero grooves, gouges or apparent damage to the coin as a result of alterations.I'm 100% confident is saying that although the coin has been in many pockets and taken a beating its definitely unique original.

Just from the scratches and areas "off" in color, it appears to have been ground down, maybe with a burnishing tool. What is the weight?

It weighed 4.38, 4.37, 4.38 on three separate scales. I can gaurentee it hasn't been altered in any way and I'm a very thorough, educated individual. The damage that's occurred is from temporarily being stored in a old small tin box with other coins. Take 40 untouched coins of all shapes and sizes toss them in a tin box, now bring that box out during family functions and visits from grandchildren. Now shake the box, play drums on the box, toss the coins on a pool table, pass them around from kid to kid to kid, wash the coins under water, put back in the box and repeat the procoss over and over again for years. What Image was intended to be on the coin? I can't find anything that resembles it.

I think that you'll have to look in a Charlton Vol 2 for all of the RCM's commem crap. It's not a normal circulation issue. If it was wear from the tin box, the Rev rims would be worn as well, not just the design.

On 2nd thought, it's probably one the the myriad of Olympic crapola that the RCM tried to push on unsuspecting folks for the Winter Olympics. Still, the Rev design removed by hand.

It's not a real RCM coin that's why it hasn't been altered.
On the Obverse, the RCM Logo is missing below the Queen
and on the Obverse, the lettering is in the wrong location
for it to be a genuine quarter.
Maybe it was made as a Souvenir Coin with the intention
of a sticker or coloured imprint to go on the clear area.
Can't say for sure.

That's exactly what it is! Damn! For a second I thought I found a gem. Haha, how a can you tell im a rookie. One thing I'm finding out about coins is that the odds of finding or discovering a true rarity are 1 in millions. Its definitely an addiction of sorts. I never thought I'd be looking at coins under a different light though, but I'm thoroughly enjoying learning about each one. I really appreciate everyone for pointing me in the right direction because I do have a lot to learn, thanks everyone!. Happy holidays!!

Just go on Ebay and look for Canada 25 cent 2010 NBU and you'll see what the RCM calls coins.
