Post by KEN66 » Sun Jun 16, 2019 12:47 pm

Need help with this 1891 Canadian large cent I purchased at a coin show today. I wanted to know what obverse is it and large date or small date large leaves or small plus grade. I know thats asking a lot. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Try to soak it for a bit in acetone and then rinse with distilled water to get rid of some of the green. It's a VF-20, so nice pick-up if you can get rid of some of the vertigris ... and if you got it at a reasonable price. BTW, any "small leaves' (NOT TOUCHING OR NEAR THE DENTICLES) is a small date.

Thank you for your reply Bill. I will try the acetone. I purchased the coin for $4.00
