Millions of coins on Highway 11

The Ontario Provincial Police is trying to recover millions of dollars in one and two dollars coins that a truck trailer was carrying the Brinks. It overturned Wednesday morning on Highway 11, near Ramore, east of Timmins.

A costly accident
The two Brinks employees suffer serious injuries in hospital. Their lives were at risk. The other two drivers are treated for minor injuries while the driver of the van is unharmed.
Route 11 will be closed in both directions for several hours to recover millions of coins scattered on the floor. Several police officers are on hand to oversee the operation.

The elimination of the 1-cent coin in Canada

Announced by thé Government of Canada sooner today, the Royal Canadian Mint will cease de production of the 1-cent coin. More details to come.
