Description
Capital Iron was established on Store Street on the Inner Harbour of Victoria, British Columbia for years. It was founded by partners Morris Greene, Izzy Stein and Harry B. Wagner in 1934. The company started with ship scrapping business then also became a surplus department store of marine antiques providing missing part to keep old vessels running. Between 1934 and 1971 the company dismantled nearly 100 ships of various sizes.
By 1961 the retail business was growing dramatically and gobbling up more and more of the available space in the buildings. The middle of 1972 was the end of the breaking business and marked the passing of Morris Greene. He sold the company to his three senior managers at the end of the previous century. The company still exists in 2016 as a retail business.
