The only 1911 1-dollar silver coin in private hands was bought January 2003, certified SP-65 by PCGS, for approximately $1,066,000 CAD, by Sid Belzberg (from Jay Parrino Collection). More than 16 years later, reduced to SP-64 by PCGS and sold by Heritage Auctions the The Emperor of Canadian Numismatics realized $735,000 CAD.
Back in 1976, Gene L. Henry and Lee Sanders of Rare Coin Galleries in Seattle purchased the coin (uncertified) for around $180,000 CAD.
