Re: 1891 Canada large cent

I'd say XF40+ with some environmental damage (start of green on the bust and dark spot on the Rev.) In my old Trends, it shows $200 Cdn, but you couldn't sell it for that.

Re: 1891 Canada large cent

It's a SL/SD Obv 3. The creased chin will tell a 2 or 3 from a 1. Then look at the E's and the Obv 3 will have the long vertical crosshatch inside. Yours does not have the R/P'd or longer arms on the T, like some of the scarcer regular LL/LD ones have; they are normal. Nice coin.

Re: 1936 dot Canada penny

Your "dot" is in the wrong place, the wrong size and the wrong shape. Every year, there are 5-6 folks who thought that they found the pot of gold but find that they didn't. Usually they find that they are just die chips, rust pits, or manual addition. Yours looks like a small die chip or pit in the ...

Re: 2009 Nickel Die Rot

It looks like someone drove a chisel or a screwdriver through it, since it has one flat level section. I think a garage or play experiment it that was then buried to rust it up. Not even worth the 5 cents now.

Re: 1964 D, RPM American Nickel info

From the photos, I se nothing. Are you referring about a R/P'd mintmark? I don't see it, maybe just a tired die and/or postmint damage.

Re: 1766 Irish half penny

Well, in y references for the 1766, there were no angular sides. Your coin doesn't have them symmetrical either. I think the angular rim/edge is post mint with someone just playing around. According to Krause, it's an Obv 1.

PMD. It looks like it was on a gravel or asphalt road for a little while or some other place.

Not worth getting graded, but nice Unc clip. You can plainly see the Blakesley effect at 180 degree opposite

Re: 1966 Silver Dollar Small or Large Bead

From the photo it looks like it could be a small bead, but the I in Regina not exactly on the bead. It looks like it's just a little to the right of the bead, but still connecting with the bead. But it has been harshly cleaned, so no idea of value. From the wear, exclusive of the cleaning scratches,...

A great CN Journal article

The Dec '24 issue of the RCNA CN Journal has a great article by the Vicky Large Cent King, Rob Turner. Even late arriving, due to the postal strike, it was well worth the wait. Titled "A Numismatic Unicorn", it is a technical evolution of what was going on at the Mint from 1881 into 1882, trying to ...

The wear makes it tough, but I'd say small date, due to the lack of serif on the 5.

Re: RCM Products

Now others can correct me, but it's general knowledge that most RCM releases can be bought at less than the issue price. There are some exceptions, but some have fallen below the big dealer cost prices.
