I know this coin is 8 years old, but I've been told on a facebook page that this is due to wear. Is that even possible? I was thinking some double struck error. I would appreciated any feedback on this one.

Found this 1996 toonie and realized the upper half of the bear image is concave. I've looked at it through 10× LED mag offer and cant find a scratch or any other marks around it. The area is very smooth. Is this a strike out or man made somehow?
