Came across this at colonialcoins. The nickel appears to have the same marks as yours but not the cent.

It is a rcm token from a 2001 1 cent to 2 dollar coin set with flags on the packaging.

I would say it is personal preference. Some people want original packaging. 95% of my collection is stored in binders, so I prefer to remove them from packaging. Also saves a lot of space and weight. I find collections more interesting by denomination than trying to look at sets. Might decrease valu...

I believe specimen notes do not usually have signatures or serial # as they are not legal currency.

I think i remember rolls of these going around a while back. 1 good one on each end of the roll and 23 fakes inside. Same with toonies.
