Re: Coin photography - Conflicted on how to do it properly

There's no single way for coin photography. Many tricks are required depending of your coins and what you want to show. I don't like USB microscope to grab the full coin espacially on MS grade. Internal LEDs create hot spots. But you can improve the rendering by adding a paper diffuser on the tip of...

Re: 2000 Pride Weak Strike Obverse

Signature of weak strike should be observed on both sided. The same pressure is applied on both observe and reverse dies. And you could also see some weakness on the reeded edge. You can see a nice example here (in french). https://numicanada.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5718&p=238684&hilit=frappe...

Re: March 1999 "Retained Grease" Strike Through

A really nice coin struck through grease.

And yes Grease can remain there.
Old and dirt grease can be quite sticky.

Re: 1993 Die Damage

Ok thanks Enyaw. Nice demonstration.

It wasn't clear to me if it's raised or incused from the original pictures.

So it's definitively a Die Damage.

Re: 1993 Die Damage

The default seems to be incused not rise. Please confirm.

A die damage procudes rise element on the coin.

If the default is incused, the error could probably a strike through something..

Re: August 1999, "Manure Pile" Die Chip Progression

Hi SP67, Thanks for sharing your photos/thoughts. I have two full mint rolls with the full "manure pile" (die chips above the C and toward the hay pile and rake/broom). Looking at those coins the die chips between the horses' legs only show up at the same time the N die chip starts and not before (...

Re: August 1999, "Manure Pile" Die Chip Progression

Here's mine: https://numicanada.com/forum/download/file.php?id=12161 In fact, there's also a nice progression set with these features. 1- Die chip over the "C" 2- Die chip over the "C" + die chip on the "N" OR "Legs". I don't know which one first, N or Legs. 3- Die chip over the "C" + "N" + "Legs". ...

Is it supposed to be magnetic? But it isn't sticking to a magnet.
This coin is based on Cupro-nickel alloy, which is non-magnetic.
