Re: Spreadsheet for Banknotes

Welcome to C&C @Imabroker! Most collectors employ excel or some type of spreadsheet. I use "Numbers" on my mac. Threads like these are all over the place with many great ideas. Here's one 1 found on the Paper Money Forum: https://www.papermoneyforum.com/post/how-do-you-sortfile-your-collection-12314...

Re: Polymer note graded G-4, can it go lower?

That looks a lot like the condition of 90% of the 2013 $10 Macdonald notes I withdrew while in search of new Desmond notes. Finally, about a year ago, they started to cull the old series in favour of the new. Do they have lowball sets for currency like they do with coins? This would be a perfect can...

Re: PMG comments

If PMG or any grading service grades a note as Choice Fine 15, for example, and they comment “stain”, does the stain factor into the grade? Or is is the note valued less than another same note graded 15 with no stain? It is worth less than a banknote F-15 without stain. But in lower grades, most ba...

Re: Grading Unc $1 banknotes

The difference between a grade of 62 or a 64 is not easy to spot by a untrained eye. +1 It is important to remember that certifiers inspect your note on a light box, under magnifiation & search for the tiniest evidence of slightest signs of handling (counter flicks, impressions, production flaws). ...

Re: 1974 CDN 2$ tints lawson bouey

back in the day Charlton referred to original and modified tints now there is no reference to this the difference is quite noticeable comments? The printers also used different tints on the 1954 ONES. Some collectors may have wanted an example of both. I'm not sure but the tints definitely vary on ...

Re: changeover prefixes

Thank you for your insights and opinions! You are most welcome. I just want to add some context to some of the statements I made above (in case you haven't followed what happened with the Journey 2001 series). A short time after the $10 were released, crooks were photocopying them so they became a ...

Re: changeover prefixes

I think the answer "depends" on which side of the change-over you have (short or common), what is known about that specific prefix & which denomination/series. Generally speaking, I'll start with "Series" since that's obviously the most simple variable: the further back the series, the higher the pr...

I think the 2013 FIVE signature change-overs for Macklem-Poloz and Wilkins-Poloz is HCM not HMC.
Thanks Enyaw! You are correct, all the prefixes were HC_ so HCM (not HM_ )

I am a recent collector. I like the art on banknotes.
It seems life-giving.
JMX
A lot of banknote collectors dig the art.
I created a page on World Motifs (+ other areas of banknote collecting) here:
