1907 With Prominent Obverse Die Crack

Thought I'd post this coin of modest value as it's quite a crack and I imagine the die didn't last the day. 20240105_135825.jpg The reverse has some radial die cracks but the best is on the obverse, which has a few "details" issues but is nonetheless in a collectable circulated grade. 20240105_14015...

Re: 1890 H "Flying I" Variety, Looks Different From Listing, Do I Have It

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge on the subject. It is all new information to me. I 100% agree that, if one wishes to build a meaningful collection, a deep dive into the available literature is one's first best step. That is the advice I share in stamp collecting, where I am better known. I ...

Re: 1890 H "Flying I" Variety, Looks Different From Listing, Do I Have It

I see the die clash in person now, arcing above the Queen's hair. It was just luck my image setup captured it. My compliments on your eagle eye!

Re: 1890 H "Flying I" Variety, Looks Different From Listing, Do I Have It

Thanks for showing all of those, my collection is relatively basic and I was unaware the variety could take so many forms. The bead clash you mention escapes my eyes and is a bit beyond my knowledge of coin making, but I'll read up on it.

1890 H "Flying I" Variety, Looks Different From Listing, Do I Have It

Hi again Had a lazy afternoon to look through unchecked purchases and found this. 20231229_145217.jpg Picture of reverse: 20231229_145305.jpg I managed to get a decent image of the relevant part of the obverse, the DEI of the legend. 20231229_152813.jpg It looks like an unserifed "I" was punched ove...

Re: 1886 Repunched 6 on Obverse 2 (?)

Thanks for the reply, the overlay of the 6/6 obscures but a second image confirms what I see as Obverse 2. I see a few sold/selling on ebay that are Obverse 1. I guess every catalogue is in need of revision, just as the last word is never written on a subject, just as we are always learning.

1886 Repunched 6 on Obverse 2 (?)

Might be a dumb question on my part, I'm short on practice IDing obverses on these anyways. From sorting a recent group: This clearly matched the listed variety, I can say with some confidence. 20231210_112313.jpg 20231210_113838.jpg The catalogue listing identifies the variety as paired with Obvers...

Classifying 1859 one cent, am I on the right track

Hi all Got this nice example at auction and am using the www.vickycents.com website to study it and understand the issue better. 20231206_225048.jpg 20231206_224918.jpg The Haxby classification is challenging to me as a newbie. So far I've got: Obverse: radial die cracks at GIN and EI, so obverse 45...

Re: 1964 error, not sure how to describe it

Thanks all for your replies. The website is an amazing resource, I had not seen the folder on broadstrike errors. As a keen young collector, some forty years ago, I would have feasted on the wealth of knowledge one can find here.

1964 error, not sure how to describe it

20231019_194219.jpg 20231019_194027.jpg This came added in an auction lot of Large Cents that yielded nothing exciting. I don't really collect these errors but I know a keeper when I see it. I am enjoying revisiting the hobby after a long time away (much has changed). I assume this is some out-of-c...
