It seems not a large bust.......
What makes you say that.

Agree with Bill.
Also Die Chips are not a Variety or an Error.

Re: CHARLTON CATALOGUE

It does happen occasionally with coins.
Not familiar with it happening with with currency.

Re: CHARLTON CATALOGUE

The Charlton Catalogue is accurate.
What you see on Coins and Canada are replacement notes that members have reported.
It is in no way a count of the notes that were printed.
If you were to report one with prefix and serial number, then the count would go up.

Re: Thin planchet coins

If the coin is only .6g, it sounds more like you have a split planchet.
Wish you had said this at the start as there no way it is a thin planchet.
There is a big difference between the two, especially price wise.

Re: Mule or planchet error?

That looks like it was intentionally done. See how uneven the length of each side is.
On a 12 sided coin, the sides are equal. Keep it as a novelty coin.
Also if you look closely, the wording is different on a Canadian vs UK coin.

Re: Thin planchet coins

Thin planchets occur when the metal rolls from which the blanks are punched out of are rolled a little too thin.
Any blank from that roll will have a thin planchet which will weigh under tolerance.
The opposite occurs for thick planchets which will weigh over tolerance.

Re: Mule or planchet error?

We will have to see clear photos of both sides before determining what you have.
It would be impossible though to have what you are describing.
Canadian 12 sided coins didn’t start until 1982

Re: mint gift specimen sets

The Charlton Catalogue is the only source that I know of and it only lists the 1970 gift specimen set.
There are specimen sets for other years but they are the regular sets that were released to the public.

Re: CHARLTON CATALOGUE

I can’t see why they wouldn’t be pretty accurate, although I guess printing mistakes are possible.
Is there any particular series or bill you are questioning?

Re: 1947 nickel errors ? Dot? Multiple dots?

Most "Dots" on coins are the result of small pin head size die chips in the die that expand with use and form the shape of dots. They are quit common especially since the RCM started plating their dies with chromium. They add no or little value to the coin and are not considered an error. The only t...

Re: mint gift specimen sets

Could you please supply some pictures?
The only sets I know of are the 1970 ones that Trudeau took to China as presentations.
Be interested in seeing other years.

Re: 1947 Canadian nickel

Picture a little out of focus but that is not the right location for 1947 dot.
It is probably a small die chip or damage.
