Re: 1886 Canada 1 Cent, Triple Punch 6
Yes, we put a TP 1886 in the 2011 CHarlton P 317, but it's a tad different than you two's. I think that they handpunched the 6 for the 1886's. With Obv 1a, there are/were 3 different TP's on the 6. One showed lower left, one like yours with nice offset inside the loop as well as upper right aabove t...

your name/handle should be "4bits" not "2bits" with those coins.

Re: 2002 Canadian half dollar
.935 steel, .0475 copper, .020 nickel. Another of the mint's sandwich jobs with steel core, thin nickel, copper .045 plate, then another nickel plate. They are common with gas bubbles and some minor peeling, but still a pretty coin.

Re: 1986 patched canoe?
If this was a plated coin, and not 100% nickel, the answer would be easy .... it would be that the plating was being cracked off. From What I can see, it's the strangest die crack I've ever seen.

Re: 1941 Canada 1c Errors.
I think that it was a worker at the mint. By using a vise or hammer/with leather, the impressed impression would have been on top of the normal design and it's not. The real reverse designs show on top of the impressed sections.

I think that it was one of the workers at the mint for it to look like it does.

Re: 2 Dollar Coin Extra Sail
That's from people believing what's written on a holder rather than their own eyes ... and also believing what CaC allows in the "variety" section of their site. They are just "raw" submissions by members that mean nothing and are given any name that the submitter wants to attach to them. Other than...

Re: 2 Dollar Coin Extra Sail
No, no use to get it graded, except spending money, as they are pretty common coins. The mint just didn't get it's act together when they colored or highlighted the sails. They made golden spaces between the lines that held the sails up. They should have been open air to see past the ropes/lines but...

Re: 2020 Error nickel?
That's what I meant, in that the gas bubbles broke and the thin layer of nickel went by-by, and maybe the thin copper plate as well. The coins are 3 layers, with almost 95% of it a steel core and then thin layers of Cu & Ni. Just think of cooking a thick food mixture on the stove when a bubble comes ...

Gas bubbles coming up through the outer plating? These are layered/plated coins.

Re: 1886 Repunched 6 on Obverse 2 (?)
Yes, I think that it may be my coin (but maybe not)that we put in the 2011(65th ed) of Charlton in the back with the Vicky varieties. Yes, this site is wrong; it's an Obv 2. In the Charlton we had the 6/6 as 60 in VG, 90 in F, 135 in VF and 200 in XF. Nice find. There's a 2nd type of 6/6 showing low...

Re: Looking for help on these two 1942 tombacs
actually, it looks like clash marks on the one on the right. That would account for a weaker, shallower strike.

Re: Looking for help on these two 1942 tombacs
I think that both busts the same. One struck in nickel, one in tombac. One is harder than the other and/or a stronger strike. I like both coins.
