Re: 2003 penny struck thru grease

To me it looks like damage done after leaving the mint. I know there are people on here with much more experience than me so hopefully one of them will also give their opinion.

quarter damaged during striking

I traded a bunch of collectibles with a guy that used to own a coin store and now does on line auctions. I just thought I would post pics of one of the items I got. You can see when the coin was struck there was something on the planchet that shouldn't have been there. For obvious reasons I can't po...

Alberta Prosperity Certificate

I had never seen one of these before yesterday and now it's mine. I guess the Social Credit government of Alberta in 1936 tried to stimulate the economy during the depression with these. The idea being that if you didn't spend it in the first week then you had to purchase a one cent stamp and affix ...

Re: Confederate US Twenty Dollar Bill

The first thing I would do is to google fake confederate money, if the serial number of your banknote matches with one listed on the site then it is obviously fake. If it doesn't match then I guess it is more likely to be real and to answer your question, it would definately be of interest to a coll...

Re: What to do with ww 2 medals

There are a lot of collectors out there that will treat them respectfully and make sure they don't end up in a thrift store. I have quite a few medals that I have purchased over the years. I also acquired a cloisonne vase with the tags and ashes of a WWII pilot. I bought a British death penny off of...

Re: U.S. error penny

Thank you for your replies. I guess bubbles make sense when I Think about it. A lot of my error coins are more obvious. I do find them interesting though.

U.S. error penny

First off, I am new posting on this site but I have been reading through all the different sections as well as the rest of the site. I have been collecting for a lot of years, since I was a kid. I collect all sorts of things but what I like most are coins and banknotes. I mostly collect Canadian and...

Re: Covid & border security

I live pretty close to the Sumas border crossing and what I miss most is the cheap gas, the Tillamook cheese and Nalleys chili. The other thing I miss is that I just discovered an antique store with all sorts of coins and banknotes in Bellingham. My first and only trip there I found a 1954 $2 test n...

Re: 1973 Quarters?

The easiest way to tell if a 1973 quarter is large or small bust is to compare it to a 1972 quarter. Look at the hair, the small bust variety has a lot more detail than a large bust.
