I have a number of coins that i have inherited (appraised at about $6000.00). How have coins held their value say over a 10 year period ?.... given my age (in my 60s.) should i sell?

Are they certified? Are they close to UNC? An appraisal and what they would sell for are 2 different things. Take a look at some "sold" items on Ebay by going to "advanced" on the very upper right and then click your coin search and look for what they actually "sold" for. Appraisals can normally be 100% or increase over what they are worth. Keep in mind that the US dollar is worth 1.34 Cdn dollars. If you find a price in Canadian dollars, take 3/4 of it for US dollars.
