Anyone out there have information on Just how rare or common this coin would be.
I have had my eye out for one for several years now and had no luck until recently roll hunting.
Sorry I'm not good enough with computer stuff to provide a picture.

I don't know the actual numbers but I recall reading that the 2012 coin sets had loonies with no security etching but (probably due to fears of large scale counterfeiting ) a hasty change was made to the coins issued for circulation.

Therefore in circulation non security marked loonies are very scarce )coming only from sets broken up by collectors or their heirs ( or those acquired by theft ), I think some 2012 year sets are very cheap selling for or close to face value ....so try kijiji coin clubs/shows flea markets etc

There was lots of old style 2012 toonies and loonies produced but they were not distributed as the RCM was planning on the new security styles as a make work project. Most of the old style coins were sent out west for only a few weeks and Ontario's delivery ended up on the side of the Trans Canada, there were no real counterfeiting problems in 2012 so why was there a new coin midway, the bulk department in Winnipeg told me they had half of a storage room of old stlyes loonies and toonies, by the way the loonies has even a lower mintage distribution
