Assistance please
Assistance please
I've been going through my mom's basement and we came across a lot of different coins and I would love some idea of how much they are worth or where to get more info on it as I don't see anything on this website about this particular piece

Re: Assistance please
That is an aftermarket set produced from 1978 business strikes by someone.
It is not an official RCM set. Value probably around $12-15.00

Re: Assistance please
Canadian nickels were 12 sided between 1942 and 1962.
In 1963 they reverted back to round nickels.
Also please start a new thread for each new coin you have a question about,
it gets confusing with more than one per thread.

Re: Assistance please
Will do, so there isn't anything special about 12 sided nickels?
Re: Assistance please
Nothing special, they were all minted like that.

Re: Assistance please
NO, they were all that way and it helped when you reached in your pocket to tell it from a quarter without looking.

The first 12 sideds were struck in tombac in 1942.
Toned tombac looks very similar to toned bronze, originally they were made 12 sided so they wouldn't be confused with pennies.
