Do you know what coin this is?

Found a weird coin, it appears to be Canadian. It seems very old and has weird deposits on it. Can anyone help me identify it?

Early 20th century (1902-10) Edward 10 cent? , but could be quarter as no dia given. Made into a love token (pin) with the person's initials on it or the couple. Nice to hold onto but no real value, except to the family. The "spots" are solder to hold the pin onto the coin.
