Newfoundland 1942 re-engraved date?

Post by A-10 » Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:01 am

Hi everyone I'm new here. So I found what I believe to be a repunched 1942 Newfoundland cent. I'm wondering have there been others found and also approximate value. I see that the 1940 and 41 repunched dates carry a hefty premium. Also I was planning on getting this coin graded but I don't think that they would recognize this variety at this moment. Any ideas if my assumption is correct?

Stunning pictures
I don't think this will get a premium.

Thank you for the compliment. The reason why I ask is because the 1941 double die or as in NGC lists it as a re-engraved date. It looks very similar to the one posted here.

I keep looking at the 41 and it looks very similar at the base also there is an offset line at the top of the 4 on the 42. Any other opinions or comments?
