$25 Fine Silver Wolf and pup Coin "O Canada Series"

Post by KellyB » Fri Sep 03, 2021 12:13 pm

Good Morning, I have been a follower/collector for many many years. Starting to Catalogue my collections of the RCM product, rolls, certified, uncertified single coins, bullion etc. all in different denominations.

With the above mentioned Coin in that series that I received from the Royal Canadian Mint. It's gold, not silver. I have checked the net thoroughly for this gold wolf and pup coin, to no avail.

So, I thought, I would come here, the professionals of Numismatics, would be able to direct me in the right direction or you will be able to tell me where to find and study this coin. Or What happened at the Mint before they shipped it from the Mint.

It's has been in its capsule since I received it from the Mint.

All responses are welcome.

Thank you very much, from Beautiful smoky British Columbia. Kelly

Welcome to the Forum
Is the other side gold or silver.
It looks like it has toned a gold colour which is possible
depending on the environment. It should have been silver
when it left the RCM. I have some 50 cent silver coins that
have toned a nice gold on one side.

Hi there,

Yes, and the edge is gold too. See attached obverse.

Thank you.

I went outside and took pictures with comparative, silver bullion, gold bullion, the wolf and one other of the series.

Here they are.

And I think you are right coin guy, I see a tinge of silver in the middle. My daughter says natural light does not lie.

Please confirm.

If it is in the original capsule that you got from the mint, then it must have been silver.
Since it has never been removed, then natural toning is the only answer.
You can see the difference in colour compared to your gold bar.
There are many gold plated coins out there that have were plated by a third party after
they left the mint but this is not possible in your case.

Good morning, CoinGuy

It has never been removed from the Capsule, and was in the storage box received from the mint which was wood. I have now put the capsule coin in an intercept technology box with every other silver coin now.

thank you for your help.
