$300 platinum coin - what to do?

Post by Blueberry » Mon Nov 22, 2021 6:15 pm

Not being at all experienced in coin selling, I have a 2016 $300 1 oz platinum Grizzly Bear: The Struggle coin, 63/200. What is the best platform to use? Ebay? Auction house? Best auction house/time of year to sell? I can only find 2 sold previously online, both in the USA, $3750 and $7500 USD. So an American auction?
Also, re RCM coins, is a lower number minted much more valued than a higher one? i.e. #50 of say 7500?
Much appreciate any comments & help :)

If you check the Ebay "sold" prices for 1 oz platinum, it's about $1200 US, which is about $1500 Canadian. I don't think that you will get much more than scrap price, which is a little over $1025US, which is about $1260 Canadian. The precious metal RCM stuff rarely sells for anything close to the issue price and usually a great deal less, sometimes not much more than 50% issue.

I believe some dealers still sell these at issue price, $2999.95CAD, so that's your upper limit.

Thanks so much for your advice & comments. I’m starting to think that RCM coins are really not a good investment!
