Picked up both of these recently, both are 0.999 silver, noticed that neither one has been listed here.

Alberta and Saskatchewan both joined Confederation at the same time 1905.

Here's a Token of the school I attended for grade school Victoria School built in 1889 making it the first multi room school in the Northwest Territories at the time, Moose Jaw was founded in 1908 and became an instant thriving City and also became the hub city for the CPR railway in the prairies as the Soo line from the US come into Canada here.

My whole family went to this school from my Grandmother to us kids, it was to bad it had to be demolished it had a lot of history like a lot of old buildings in Moose Jaw it was a jewel of the prairies at the time.

This is an area of coinsandcanada I would like to see expanded. While these coins generally are not worth a lot monetarily, they can hold many fond memories of places travelled and times gone by. Coin collecting is not always about making a profit. Sometimes that seems to be too much of the focus. I have a fair collection of trade dollars from my youth. Would be willing to contribute but I need some instruction on the best way to capture the images.

Thanks Jim. I have used a scanner and photoshop to discern varieties but even with a high resolution I am not happy with the photo results. Maybe I just need to fool around with it a little more. The image that comes from the scanner is very small. I haven't spent a lot of time on it as i haven't had a need for it yet.

I have a scanner I purchased several years ago I spent a bit of money at the time. Its a Epson perfection 4490 Photo with digital ICE Technology.

My settings are Professional Mode, Auto exposure type: Photo, image type: 24 bit color, resolution: 800 dpi.
These settings seem to work good for my pictures.

I had a scanner before this one that was combined with a printer that took scans so small a coin looked like a small button on the screen, that's when I went to London Drugs computer department and discussed my problem with a computer sales person and he led me to this scanner I use now and I'm very happy with the results.
Hope this helps

Too funny. I have an epson, use professional mode and +800 dpi. But it has a printer with it and bingo, pictures like a button. Thanks Jim, that helps.

I have an 8MP Olympus point and shoot camera, I set it on super macro so that I can get a photo at about 3 inches. For the super shiny coins I built a light box by cutting the top and bottom off a 4L milk jug and shine an led light in from the side. The photos I submitted are un-retouched only cropped.
